Salty's on the Columbia
This restaurant was a little more upscale than a lot of places we had seen around Portland, which gave us a nice break from the weirdness swirling around us. The view of the Columbia River is amazing, and it adds a perfect ambiance to the meal.
Our waitress was extremely friendly and checked on us frequently. Their decor was a tad dated and haphazard, particularly the wall art.
I started with a cup of seafood chowder, which was creamy and delicious. The bacon was also a nice touch. Each of the different sea creatures had a distinct flavor and texture. I could pinpoint each one, which speaks highly of the quality and care that went into its preparation.
For my entree, I decided on their special of the day: Grilled Copper River salmon, served with dijon mashed potatoes and asparagus. The salmon was about as fresh as it could possibly be, probably caught that morning. The sprinkling of crunchy crushed pistachios on top added a nice texture. Delicious!
