I had Soba with tempura. They make Soba in house. Also had Hojicha Pudding for dessert.  The most comfy and quiet lunch place in midtown. Food is amazing! All the small plates are WOW! Customer service is awesome! I will definitely go back!!

This is located on the 1st floor of a building that Kajitsu runs. Unlike Kajitsu, Kokage uses meats and fish in their dishes. They mainly offer rice bowl and noodle. I just like tranquil of the place as I feel I'mnin Kyoto.

Kokage is an upscale eatery contained within one of the finest Japanese vegetarian restaurants in New York City – Kajistsu.

Holding its own with a menu that serves stellar bowls of house-made soba, udon and ramen and a menu of a la carte dishes which include seafood, meat and eggs.

Open for lunch only – the set menu is the most reasonable option in this pricey spot.

I met Cindy from Chubby Chinese Girl here for lunch and had an unforgettable bowl of Curry Udon w/ Tofu. Served with a side of Inari Sushi (my fav), the flavors of this bowl were really divine. The handmade noodles were perfectly softened and coated with just the right amount of curry – making each bite pure heaven!

Kokage is a really wonderful option for those seeking a slightly elevated lunch experience both in flavor and price.

Kokage is one of my favorite Japanese lunch place in Midtown East. Lunch set is very reasonable and they change menu every few months. Two of dishes at Kokage are on my #BucketList dish in NYC. First dish is their handmade soba. Specially Duck Soba is SUPER delish! When I was here last time I had wonderful Maguro Yamakake Soba. This is raw tuna and grated mountain yam over cold soba noodle soup. It is very summer dish in Japan so they are probably not going to serve this style until next summer again. 

 

Next bucket dish is Saba Sushi. You can order it separate but my lunch set came with Saba Sushi and I just fell in love with it ♥

 

Lunch is serve Tue-Sat 11:45 am - 1:45 pm. All the Soba set are $20 and come with one side dish.

 

Note: Upstair of Kokage is Kajitsu. Kajitsu is Shoujin Ryori restaurant ( Japanese Vegetarian )
