The ambience left a little to be desired as it was very dark and dingy. I was not happy about that. However, the food was very pleasant and moderately priced, which i love. My wife had the meatballs and I had the salmon salad. I would definitely come back here again.

Fantastic restaurant elevating rustic/ traditional Italian food. All of the pastas are exceptional. The captain's tasting menu is perfectly paced and balanced. I never focus on service; but I noticed it was impeccable on the night. I found it on par with 2 Michelin star standards. The restaurant decor and overall atmosphere is definitely more formal. Don't expect it to mirror the vibe of its Meatpacking District neighbors.  Note: Executive chef Mark Ladner is leaving in February 2017. Hopefully the kitchen will continue to execute and experiment.

NYC FOODIE QUICK BITE: DEL POSTO

Four Star Italian awaits you at Del Posto, Mario Batali, Joe and Lidia Bastianich's temple of Italian cuisine. Del Posto is the only 4-Star rated NY Times Italian restaurant. The space is sprawling and beautiful. The service is superb, yet stiff. When I dine out my goal is to make everyone around me smile and laugh, (that is my goal in life everywhere) it took me a lot of energy to break the staff at Del Posto. Don't take this stuff so seriously people, it's just food!

That being said, the food at Del Posto, helmed by Executive Chef Mark Ladner, is quite wonderful!

The three amuses brought to our table were extraordinary. True bites of joy. I would just come here for some wine and these babies any day.

Sfera di Caprino, Celery & Fig Agrodolce & Celery Sorbetto, is absolutely ingenious. That's right, you read that correctly- celery sorbet. I loved this dish! Fantastic.

It's truly a fantastic restaurant. I just wish the staff smiled more. Have fun!

Lunch here was special. From the decor, to the atmosphere, impeccable service and superb food - everything was absolutely on point! My wife and I enjoyed a lunch date here which is an affordable way to experience Del Posto. We opted for the shared primi for $10 extra per person and it was totally worth it. Their menu rotates based on the season, so I'm not going to go into too much detail on the food.

I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed the pork tenderloin - it was cooked perfectly and the au jus was slurp worthy. Their handmade orecchiette was springy and chewy in the best possible way. I never enjoyed orecchiette as much as I did at Del Posto. Dessert was also top notch and their olive oil and coconut gelato are to die for. I wish I had a whole pint of their olive oil gelato! Even their simple fresh greens salad with truffled dressing was drool-inducing. You'll be hard pressed to find a bad dish here.

The hype for Del Posto has died down a bit so it should be a bit easier to get reservations here. The quality of their lunch is superb and you won't be disappointed if you choose Del Posto for a special occasion. Great times, hope to be back sometime soon!

We came here for a company lunch. As some of you may know, I am allergic to gluten, therefore the concept of an Italian restaurant with a gluten free menu? Psst, unheard of! I hadn’t found one yet, but this place actually has gluten free items! Wow!

Initially, we were going with the prix fixe 3 course lunch. However, as my boss had been here before, she inquired if they still offered the 7 course menu. They said that they still do and we went that option instead.

We started off with a shot of pea soup, fried cheese & daikon. The aroma of the cheese was so inviting. Yum….

A bread basket was the next item. We got an extra basket for my boss & I as we both opted for the gluten free option. This was the best gluten free bread I have ever had. It’s so soft and they use rosemary with salt for flavoring. I can eat ten of these all by myself. Of course, you can’t miss out on the truffle, sweet butter and virgin oil that comes with the bread.

The salad with truffled dressing was heavenly, as was the lobster salad. These salads were just amazing.

Let’s talk about the Chestnut Ravioli with Black Truffle Butter. Truthfully, I cannot believe this is gluten free. You can actually taste the chestnut paste inside of the ravioli. It is so very flavorful.

I love pollo, so I tried the slow cooked Chicken. All I’ll say about this is that I simply don’t know how they made this chicken so tender.

To close things out we had the mixed dessert. I tried a gluten free chocolate lava cake and Gelato with fruits. All fresh and delicious.

The aroma and smells of all the food at this restaurant were just so amazing.

The service here is second to none, they also have a live piano player providing some nice background music. All the waiters were extremely nice and pleasant.

My overall experience at Del Posto was just amazing, and I highly recommend you visit this place. Do note, that as they say in life, you get what you pay for, so expect to shell out some hard earned cash at this restaurant.

NYC: Del Posto, the Perfect Meal to Impress!

Del Posto has turned me into a believer. Bring your parents, bring your clients, bring your significant other. Basically bring anyone who you're trying to impress. Del Posto has it all: amazing Italian food, world class service and grandiose decor without being stuffy. Just let me tell you, whoever you bring here, you are all in for a treat.

 

Let's talk about what got me most interested in going to Del Posto in the first place, Eater's article on

Just thinking about all those layers made my head spin and I knew I had to try it ASAP. I mean, have you ever even tried making a lasagna? I'm lucky enough if I can make it up to 10 layers, let alone 100! What a work of art!

 

So while I was a bit hesitant to give this joint venture from two TV food celebs Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich a try

(overrated? overpriced??)

- Del Posto finally found a way to lure me in. With the promise of a bolognese braised for over 6 hours, layered between delicate sheets of pasta finished off in a pan to give it some crispy texture.

You have the choice of doing either a lunch of dinner prix fixe. We opted to come here for lunch and was lucky to catch it while it was still $39 for 3 courses. Lunch is now priced at $49, which is still completely worth it for the quality of food and service that you get at this 1 Michelin Star establishment.

 

From the moment we stepped in the restaurant, we were impressed. The restaurant is spacious, with a beautiful bar on one side and the formal dining on the other. As we were seated, our server quickly pulled up a stool for my purse

(the little details right?)

, while the sommelier swiftly helped us pick out a bottle of rosé to go with our meal.

Before I get into what we ordered, I have to call out that our meal started off with a warm toasty bread basket came with

the best airy savory lardo

that made me forget I was merely eating whipped pig fat (lol). Seriously had to stop myself from killing all the bread and getting too full before the meal even started!!

($10 supplement). Both were well executed but nothing to especially call out because what REALLY blew us away came next...

This is hands down one of the most unique pasta dishes I've had in a while. The lamb neck ragu had such an interesting flavor profile that I've never had in Italian food. It was spiced similar to how the Xian province of china treats their lamb - flavored with a bit of cumin, chili and peppercorn. This was well balanced with the minted pea sauce and the spice was mellowed out by the bit of tangy cremé that was drizzled across the dish.

 

You guys, I will remember this dish forever because of how unique it was. I could eat 10 more plates of this and still want more.

 

We also ordered the

Lobster Ravioli w/ Market Squash, Sweet Corn & Lemon Butter

- lobster delicately wrapped in their house-made pasta.

Then of course we have the

100 Layer Lasgana

, which isn't on the menu for tasting during lunch so we had to place a special order for it. Since this is the reason why I came to Del Posto, we obviously had to order.

 

Given the hype, I don't necessarily think this dish lives up to my expectations. First, I expected the lasagna to stand 100 layers tall instead of on the side like you see in the picture here. I do appreciate that the sides are pan-seared to give some added texture. The layers of pasta is light and delicate as expected, but not a dish I'm dying to try again.

 

Dolci 

After an amazing pasta course, we finished with two amazing desserts that helped make this meal one of the best I've had in Manhattan. We ordered 

Grilled Semolina Cake w/ Poached Nectarine with Basil Gelato

and 

Butterscotch Semifreddo Melon Agrumata & Crumbled Sbrisolona (is that even a word?).

DEL POSTO Special Prix-fixe Lunch

Lunch is the best time to look for the best deals from upscale restaurants in NYC.  Del Posto at 85 Tenth Avenue between 15th and 16th streets is a good deal at $29/person.  You have a good choice for a prix-fixe lunch which comes with amuse bouche (3 little ones) and a surprise box with 5 miniature extra dessert treats for each of you at the table to try and a little box of delectable homemade truffles to take home. FOR STARTER:  The amuse bouche is made up of consome, mini aranccini (stuffed rice ball) and stuffed cream puff I selected this salad as my first course This was the first course that one of us ordered instead of a salad This ice cream has pistachios as you can see. Above is another dessert you can choose This is a staple at prix-fixe lunch that is added after. There is a mini chocolate covered ice cream, warm mini bombolini, apple tart, dark chocolate truffle - which are all truly delicious! Above is another appetizer with fried pancetta Closeup of the bombolini and mini ice cream pops   It's actually better to eat like a King at lunch than at dinner time.  You have the rest of the day to burn all those calories.  This was very well worth it for the day!

Solid 4 stars. This is a Michelin started place so expect Michelin starred service. Two people set every table. The servers and bartenders go the extra mile. And I basically felt like the true rockstar I am even though I as 5 drinks deep before sitting down.

The dining room is old school pomp and circumstance, but even a jaded diner like me can appreciate its awesomeness.

My boss took me to dinner here so I luckily did not have to foot the bill, but even so, your money is well spent here. Portions are such that you can split a few different entrees, the bread basket is heavenly (served with salted butter and seasoned lardo), complimentary amuse bouche and dessert and lovely, lovely pasta.

Say you just want a good meal without going through wine service and a snooty tooty server? Sit at the bar where you can order a la carte and enjoy a much more relaxed atmosphere.
