When you hear of fondue your mind may drift to the groovy seventies when fondue was the staple of hospitality and good times. Fondue was the quintessential party food, but it did have it's pitfalls. There was always a risk of burning that polyester leisure suit in the process. Also if things went bad at the party, the fondue forks could quickly turn into weapons. However, the fondue itself was quite delicious, and it still is!

Fast forward a few decades and you can still find some really tasty fondue Savory Recipes ranging from savory to sweet. So while some may see fondue as a trend, we think that it should be a staple. It is easy and so adaptable to reflect changing tastes and cuisines. And fondue is a great way to keep your guests entertained and promote conversation. It is a shared experience. Easy Cheese Fondue

Easy Cheese Fondue

INGREDIENTS

  • Swiss Cheese
    1 cup
  • Cheddar cheese
    1 cup
  • Flour
    1 tbsp
  • Dry mustard
    1 tsp
  • Garlic powder
    1 tsp
  • Beer
    ½ -3/4 cup
  • Fresh cracked pepper (to taste)
    -
  • French bread or Italian bread
    -

DIRECTIONS

  • Cut a loaf of French bread across in normal slices. Then cut these slices into 1 inch strips. Cut the strips in thirds to have cubes of bread.
  • Grate 1 cup of cheddar cheese and 1 cup of swiss cheese is a medium bowl.
  • Put 1 tbsp of flour in bowl with cheese and toss cheese to coat it in the flour.
  • Heat up your double boiler, fondue pot, large pot with water and bring water to gentle boil.
  • Place top part of fondue pot over water, and place ½ cup beer in pot.
  • Add dry mustard, garlic powder, and pepper to beer.
  • Once beer is almost warm, add cheese about 1 tbsp at a time constantly stirring with fork until melted.
  • Keep stirring until the cheese has a runny consistency, it should not be clumpy. If it is clumpy try adding a little bit more beer, just a little at a time until you achieve the desired consistency. If it is too runny add more cheese or a little more flour.

Garlic Herb Swiss Fondue

Garlic Herb Swiss Fondue

INGREDIENTS

  • Jarlsberg
    4 oz.
  • Goat Cheese (cubed)
    4 oz.
  • Asiago Cheese
    4 oz.
  • Flour
    1 tbsp
  • Handcraft Wines Inspiration White Wine (or dry white wine)
    ¾ cup
  • Garlic Minced
    2 Cloves
  • Chives Minced
    1 tbsp
  • Thai Basil Minced
    1 tbsp
  • French bread or Italian bread
    -

DIRECTIONS

  • Cut a loaf of French bread across in normal slices. Then cut these slices into 1 inch strips. Cut the strips in thirds to have cubes of bread.
  • Grate the cheeses and combine in a big bowl. Place flour in bowl, and coat all cheese.
  • Mince the basil, garlic, and chives.
  • In fondue pot, heat the wine and garlic.
  • Slowly add the cheese and stir continuously until it has melted together.
  • Stir in your herbs.

Buffalo Chicken Fondue

Buffalo Chicken Fondue

INGREDIENTS

  • Buffalo sauce
    3 tbsp
  • Cream cheese, softened
    4 oz.
  • Monterey jack cheese, shredded
    1 cup
  • Cheddar cheese, shredded
    1 cup
  • Blue cheese
    4 oz
  • Milk
    1/3 cup
  • Celery sticks
    -
  • Fried chicken strips
    -

DIRECTIONS

  • In a fondue pot (or a regular pot) melt cream cheese and buffalo sauce on medium heat until melted; stirring to ensure it doesn't burn (about 5 minutes).
  • Once you have a sauce like substance in the pot then add the three cheeses. Mix well and add the 1/3 cup of milk. Mixing until everything comes together.
  • Serve with celery sticks and fried chicken strips

Pizza Fondue

Pizza Fondue

INGREDIENTS | For the fondue

  • Garlic, grated
    1 clove
  • Dry white wine, divided (I used Sauvignon Blanc)
    1 cup
  • Cornstarch
    ½ tbsp
  • Lemon juice
    1 tsp
  • Cream cheese, cut in small cubes
    2 ounces
  • Shredded mozzarella
    1½ cups
  • Shredded Parmesan or Asiago
    ½ cup
  • Pinch Nutmeg
    -
  • Italian Herbs (optional)
    -

INGREDIENTS | For serving

  • Meatballs
  • Pepperoni
  • Garlic Bread, cubed
  • Peppers, chopped
  • Mushrooms
  • Marinara sauce

DIRECTIONS | For dippers

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  • Soak bamboo skewers in water for 10 minutes. Place chunks of garlic bread, meatball, and pepperoni on skewers. Or you can skip the skewers and place them directly on a baking sheet. Bake for 6-8 minutes or until garlic bread is crisped and meatballs are heated through.

DIRECTIONS | For the fondue

  • Heat a small sauce pan over medium high heat. Add the grated garlic to the pan and saute until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add all but about 2 tbsp of the wine and lemon juice to the pot and bring to a simmer.
  • Add the cream cheese and whisk until melted. Add the cheese, a handful at a time, whisking well after each addition, until mixture is smooth and cheese is totally melted.
  • Dissolve a tbsp of cornstarch in the remaining wine. Whisk it into the pot and allow it to simmer for an additional minute or two or until thickened.
  • Season with a pinch of nutmeg and sprinkle with Italian herbs if desired. Transfer to a fondue pot to keep warm or serve immediately.
  • Add marinara sauce to a microwave safe bowl, cover, and microwave until hot through, stirring every minute.
  • Serve fondue and marinara with meatball skewers and fresh vegetables.

Beef Fondue

INGREDIENTS

  • Soy sauce
    3/4 cup
  • Worcestershire sauce
    1/4 cup
  • Garlic, minced
    2 cloves
  • Beef tenderloin, cut into 1-inch cubes
    5 pounds

HORSERADISH SAUCE

  • Sour cream
    1 cup
  • Prepared horseradish
    3 tbsp
  • Chopped onion
    1 tbsp
  • Vinegar
    1 tsp
  • Salt
    1/2 tsp
  • Pepper
    1/4 tsp

BARBECUE SAUCE

  • Sour cream
    1 cup
  • Prepared horseradish
    3 tbsp
  • Chopped onion
    1 tbsp
  • Tomato sauce
    1 (8 ounce) can
  • Steak sauce
    1/3 cup
  • Brown sugar
    2 tbsp
  • Peanut or vegetable oil
    8 cups

DIRECTIONS

  • Add the Worcestershire, soy, garlic, and beef into a big plastic bag. Put in fridge for 4 hours to let marinate.
  • In a bowl, mix together the horseradish ingredient and also place in fridge.
  • In a different bowl, mix together the steak sauce, brown sugar, and tomato sauce. Place in fridge.
  • In a fondue pot, add in the oil and heat to 350 - 375 degrees.
  • After letting marinade, drain the beef and pat dry.
  • Use fondue forks and cook the beef in the fondue pot oil until desired doneness.
  • Serve this beef fondue recipe with the barbecue and horseradish sauce.

  • Rub pot with garlic.
  • Heat soup in pot and beat until smooth.
  • Slowly add milk and beat again.
  • Add cheese slowly, stirring as it melts.
  • Sprinkle with pepper and paprika and place over burner.
  • Dunk the seafood and bread using fondue forks.

Cookies And Cream Fondue

INGREDIENTS

  • Salted butter
    ¼ cup
  • Heavy whipping cream
    1 cup
  • Premier white morsels
    24 oz.
  • chocolate sandwich cookies, coarsely chopped
    15 pieces

DIRECTIONS

  • In a your fondue pot, combine butter and cream and bring to a simmer, stirring continuously.
  • Add morsels. Stir until completely melted and smooth.
  • Add chopped cookies and gently fold in, just until combined.
  • Serve immediately with your choice of dipper. Suggestions: strawberries, apples, bananas, pound cake, brownies.

Flaming Turtle Chocolate Fondue

Flaming Turtle Chocolate Fondue

INGREDIENTS

  • Milk chocolate (chips or finely chopped)
    12 ounces
  • Heavy cream
    2 tbsp
  • Rum
    1 tbsp
  • Caramel ice cream topping
    1/4 cup
  • Pecans, chopped
    3 tbsp

DIRECTIONS

  • Melt the chocolate and heavy cream in a double boiler on top of simmering water and mix until creamy or in a microwaveable bowl cooked in 15 second intervals and stirred until melted.
  • Pour melted chocolate into a warm fondue pot.
  • Pour the caramel into the center of the chocolate mixture. Do not stir.
  • Add the rum to the pot and ignite carefully using a lighter.
  • Allow the flame to burn out and stir gently to combine.
  • Sprinkle with pecans.
  • Keep fondue warm over low heat.

Easy Salted Caramel

Easy Salted Caramel

INGREDIENTS

  • Soft caramels, unwrapped
    25 pieces
  • Milk or heavy cream
    ⅓ cup
  • Mini marshmallows
    ⅓ cup
  • Fine sea salt
    ½ tsp

DIPPERS

  • Apples, strawberries, bananas
  • Pretzels / Marshmallows
  • Cookies / Crackers
  • etc.

DIRECTIONS

  • Add caramels, milk, and marshmallows to the fondue pot.
  • Cook on high for 1 hour. Stir until smooth. Dip away!

Easy S'mores Fondue

Easy Smores Fondue

INGREDIENTS

  • Half and half
    1/2 - 3/4 cup
  • Kosher salt (optional)
    pinch
  • Milk Chocolate Bars, broken into pieces
    5 to 6 (1.55 oz.)
  • Enough Marshmallows to cover chocolate
    -
  • Graham Cracker Squares, for dipping
    -
  • Strawberries, for dipping
    -

DIRECTIONS

  • In a 2-3 cup microwave safe, oven safe crock, pour half and half in and add salt if desired. (the salt helps balance out the sweet)
  • Heat half and half for 1-2 minutes on HIGH, but do not boil. (all microwaves heat differently, you want the half and half to be very warm to touch)
  • Add in the chocolate pieces and allow to sit for about a minute. Once you see the chocolate is starting to melt, whisk mixture into a smooth, thick ganache.
  • Add to fondue pot
  • Place marshmallows, side by side, on top of the chocolate mixture to cover.
  • Serve with graham crackers and strawberries.

Chocolate-&-Honey Fondue

INGREDIENTS

  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips
    12 oz.
  • Honey
    3/4 cup
  • Evaporated milk
    1/4 to 1/3 cup

DIRECTIONS

  • Melt chocolate chips over medium heat in a fondue pot.
  • Stir in honey. Add evaporated milk until mixture is desired consistency for dipping
  • Keep chocolate mixture warm in fondue pot.
  • Serve with your favorite dippables such as fruit or pound cake.

Red Velvet Fondue Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • Heavy whipping cream
    1/3 cup
  • Premium milk chocolate (we used The Melting Pot chocolate)
    4 ounces
  • Patron XO Cafe Dark Cocoa (or coffee liqueur)
    1 tbsp
  • Red food coloring
    About 4-6 drops
  • Cheesecake, biscuits, fruit and cake for dipping

DIRECTIONS

  • Heat the cream in your fondue pot.
  • Once simmering (few bubbles), stir in chocolate and liqueur.
  • Stir the mixture continuously until all of the chocolate melts.
  • Serve the chocolate immediately and use your favorite dippers!
