Chick-Fil-A is a great lunch spot. But sometimes, we wish they were open later. Occasionally we get the craving for some of that sweet tea at 3am, and maybe some waffle fries and dipping sauce. We love Chick-Fil-A, but eating there as often as we want could take a serious toll on the budget and waistline. We figured it was time to get creative and try to come up with a way to make these items at home. It saves a ton of money, and these recipes can be modified to make them healthier if you want.

Also Chick-Fil-A is closed on Sundays which makes it really tough when all you want is a big juicy chicken sandwich. No worries! We have compiled some recipes that will satisfy your craving right in the comfort of your own home. With these copycat recipes, a little creativity and the right ingredients, you will be on your way to Chick-Fil-A goodness in no time!

Copycat Chick-Fil-A Chicken Nuggets

Copycat Chick-Fil-A Chicken Nuggets

Now we are going to let you in a little secret. The thing that makes the chicken at Chick-Fil-A so craveable is the fact that marinate their chicken in pickle juice. Not only does it give the chicken a great flavor, it actually helps to keep it moist during cooking. Don't worry about your pickles being dry in the jar, they will be just fine. Or you can use them for the chicken sandwiches that we are going to tell you how to make later. Now on to the recipe...

INGREDIENTS

  • Skinless and boneless chicken breasts or tenderloins

    1 tbsp
  • Paprika
    1 tsp
  • Pepper
    1 tsp
  • Salt
    1 tsp
  • Peanut oil for frying
    2 cups

DIRECTIONS

  • In a large bowl, combine chicken, ½ cup milk and pickle juice. Cover and place in the refrigerator for at least 20-60 minutes or overnight, the longer the better. Remove from fridge and add a beaten egg to the mixture.
  • Heat peanut oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.
  • In a gallon sized ziplock bag, mix the flour, powdered sugar, and spices until well combined. Add the chicken pieces (without liquid) and shake well until fully coated.

Copycat Chick-Fil-A Chicken Sandwich

Copycat Chick-Fil-A Chicken Sandwich

Yes, the Chick-Fil-A Chicken Sandwich is one of the staples of our diet. And since we love them so much, it is good that we have a handy dandy recipe to replicate that goodness at home. We love doing this one at home because we can always add more tomato or lettuce, or leave the pickles off. One thing we like to do is substitute cucumber for the pickles. Basically this leaves the floor open for your own customization, so you can get creative. Now you can create this too, by following our recipe here:

INGREDIENTS

  • Hamburger buns, split
    4
  • Green leaf lettuce, leaves separated
    1 head
  • Tomato, sliced
    1
  • Dill pickle slices
    20

  • Dill pickle juice
    1 cup
  • Milk, divided
    1 ½ cups

  • All-purpose flour
    ½ cup
  • Confectioners' sugar
    1 tbsp
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
    -

DIRECTIONS

  • Place a chicken breast on a cutting board. With your hand flat on top of it, carefully slice the chicken in half horizontally. Trim excess fat as needed.
  • In a large shallow baking dish, combine chicken, pickle juice and ½ cup milk; marinate for at least 30 minutes. Drain well.
  • Heat peanut oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.
  • In another large shallow baking dish, whisk together remaining 1 cup milk and egg. Stir in chicken to coat and drain excess milk mixture.
  • In a gallon size Ziploc bag or large bowl, combine chicken, flour and confectioners' sugar; season with salt and pepper, to taste.

Copycat Chick-Fil-A Waffle Fries

Copycat Chick-Fil-A Waffle Fries

Yes, you can buy frozen waffle fries at the grocery store and fry them up at home. That is the easiest way of tackling the fries. But if you are a homemade sort of person, and you have a mandolin, you can make the waffle fries from scratch. We are going to use the twice fried method to give us a nice tender middle with a crispy outside. You are going to fry once, let them rest then turn up the heat for a second trip to the fryer. Here's how:

INGREDIENTS

  • Idaho Russet potatoes, peeled, and kept in cold water
    Several lbs.
  • A deep fat fryer or a big pan
    -
  • Vegetable oil for the fryer
    -
  • A Mandolin
    -

DIRECTIONS

  • Cut the Potatoes with a mandolin.
  • Now, after you have made the first slice, rotate the potato 90 degrees, and cut. This will give you the waffle effect.
  • You will need to play with the depth on your mandolin until you get it the thickness you want, this may take some time, but it will be worth it in the end.
  • Once cut, place the slices back into the cold water, so they do not brown.
  • Heat the oil to a medium heat, about 250 F.
  • Drop the slices a few at a time and cook for 4 minutes. Remove from the heat, and leave to cool and dry on paper towels.
  • Increase heat of oil to highest possible, and cook for another 5-10 minutes, until they are that lovely golden color.
