  • Compulsive overeating: Is there any way to put a“STOP”?

  • When the overeating is characterized as ….compulsive?

Overeating is not simply referred to a small amount consumed beyond a nutrition programme, as per example a biscuit in a day, or a random consumption of additional calories (per example in a celebration or in a outing). The compulsive overeating refers to those days (surely any of us has been through these days), in which there is a manis on the food consumption till we feel that we are about to explode!

At this stage there is one main characteristic, the incredible bulimia of no limit! A situation best described as “WITH NO MEASURE” The person involved in a similar situation does not consume the food because of hunger, but it is driven by other psychological causes, trying to fill out the emotional voids with the food!

How a “bad” state of psychology could upset the nutrition?

Consuming more for a single time is something human and reasonable and it does not create any worries. However, at the time anyone starts eating under an emotional charge that is motivated (a state prevailing among the female persons at most) by an emotional gap, sorrow, or sadness, or even boredom…when the food is converted to a reward, or to a substitute of emotions, then the term of compulsive overeating applies and unfortunately is a condition that requires care and attention!

Usually, following such a obsessive meal, characterized by an immoderate food consumption (reaching a stage where you feel that you cannot take anymore and you would like to throw everything out), a stage of guilt shame and sickness follows for what was done, for this “slipping” allowed, resulting to an even worse situation where the person is dominated by bad feelings and finally falls into the depression!

How I fight a similar condition?

Initially, as a brave woman, you should be able to recognize the situation in which you find yourself, a fact quite difficult, as most of the persons finally feel comfort with this condition, experiencing a stage where they forget everything causing the problem mentioned.
The result is obvious as finally do not remember their situation and the risks involved in this.
Going further from the stage of recognizing the seriousness of your situation (and after you excluded the case of overeating by a simple foolish habit, or by the circumstances, you should stand naked in front of the mirror for a few minutes and observe every single detail, every single fault of your body.
The negative image we have (especially the women) about our body, at many times is the departure point of all insecurities, all complexes dominating us, and surely of all emotional gaps as well, which really feel to take us apart! So, we try to love what we are, to accept bads and goods, in such a way that we could be able to fix all possible faults

ATTENTION: Do not follow one food diets, or diets of exhaustion and do not try unhealthy tricks of weight loss! To a great extent such practices are highly responsible for situations like this compulsive overeating, a condition that many people are driven to, on a daily basis!
In particular foods high in sugar or fat, tend to provoke an addiction, similar if not higher to that of drugs! Persons addicted to food tend to demonstrate respective symptoms of dependence and withdrawal and they NEED HELP by a specialist!

ATTENTION: The compulsive overeating is a psychological disorder with an impact on the person’s nutrition and what is required is the psychological support and not just a simple diet! In case you recognise the problem in yourself or to any relative, refer it to a specialist psychologist!
